what is SC?

The Sino-Canadian Dual Diploma Program (SC) was jointly set up by Guangdong Country Garden School (CGS) and the Niagara Catholic District School Board, Ontario, Canada (NCDSB). The program adopts “3+1” implementation mode: three full years of study (from Year 9 to Year 11) in CGS for dual-diploma courses and one full year of study (Year 12) in one of the eight schools under NCDSB, Canada for more difficult courses. After that, students can get both the Chinese Senior High School Diploma and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Canada belongs to both the Commonwealth of Nations and the North American Union. Therefore, its high school grade is accredited by the universities in the UK, the US, Australia and other English-speaking countries. The program enrolled some students for the first time in 2014. At present, each grade has one class with no more than 20 students.

Our advantages

1.It is a joint program with Canadian School Board giving a guarantee of a quality education.

This program is an official partnership, run jointly by Guangdong Country Garden School and the Niagara Catholic District School Board, Ontario, Canada, with a guarantee of a high quality education.

2.The dual diplomas combine Chinese and Canadian specialities.

Both Chinese Senior High School Curriculum and Canadian Senior High School Curriculum will be studied and the latter one will be taught totally immersed in an English environment. Graduates are expected to master the basic knowledge of the Chinese curriculum while developing their unique personalities and abilities which are the main focuses of the western education system. Dual diplomas will be awarded after the students complete the required credits.

3.Experienced teachers from China and Canada are engaged in preparing the students for the western culture.

Qualified and experienced Canadian teachers are appointed to teach in China while the students are studying here. At present, 4 Canadian teachers are delivering this program in China. While in Canada, our students will study in the 8 Secondary Schools under the Niagara Catholic District School Board and live with host families selected by the Board. Therefore, students will have an opportunity to quickly integrate into the western culture and gain independence.

4.Create a pure English environment in order to ensure success in the English language while studying abroad.

During the four years’ course study, the students will gain advanced and scientific English language skills. They will learn and master as many as 40,000 to 50,500 English words. As a result, their English level will be far above the enrollment requirements by overseas universities.

5.Effective student management from GCGS ensures that the students' stay in Canada will be safe and valuable.

Guangdong Country Garden School has been doing the integrated and elaborate management since it was founded. While in Canada, CGS will ensure to maintain in close contact with our students, supervise them and send feedback to their parents. At the same time, Canadian schools will arrange for expert teachers to supply professional help and guidance on university application.

6.Direct pathway to universities in North America with Ontario Secondary School Dipploma.

An Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) means getting the pass to universities in North America and Commonwealth of Nations. With a diploma from the Niagara Catholic District School Board, students will be able to apply for certain overseas universities without IELTS, TOEFL or College Preparatory School. However, some universities may still require an IELTS or TOEFL score alongside an OSSD. A dedication to excellence in their academic achievement is still necessary if a student wishes to obtain a scholarship.

The first 14 students in the SC have successfully completed the required credits in CGS and will continue their studies of Year 12 in the 6 Secondary Schools under NCDSB, Canada. The Board, having a good reputation for its education, will supply our students with rigorous college preparatory education. Students who have obtained the highly-recognized OSSD can apply for the universities in the US, Canada and other countries of the Commonwealth of Nations without IELTS or TOEFL. These 14 students will stay with 12 carefully-selected Canadian families and fully integrate into Canadian communities. Canadian Coordinator Paulina who has instructed these students for two years will return to Canada spending one more year with them. In addition, the Board has arranged for Kim, an expert in university application, to supply our students with relevant guidance.
